First Draft Reading of “The Bison Beast of Dubois" by Mario Baldessari

January 17, 2012 at 7:30PM

Monroe House

On Tuesday, January 17th at 7:30pm the Drama Committee, in partnership with First Draft at Charter Theater, will host D.C‐based playwright, Mario Baldessari and his new comedy “The Bison Beast of Dubois”. A small town’s attempt to revive its tourism industry awakens something unexpected: alreadysimmering prejudices and something from deep in the backcountry. “The Bison Beast of Dubois” is a
monstrously fun new comedy!

About Playwright Mario Baldessari – Baldessari’s most recent plays include “Jack and the Bean‐Stalk” at 1st Stage (in partnership with First Draft), which was Helen Hayes Award Recommended, and “Fat Gay Jew” at Charter Theater. This February, 1st Stage and First Draft will premiere his latest play, “Three Bears,” an a cappella comedy for the whole family, co‐written with Ethan Slater. This past September, First Draft premiered “Best Men,” a new play co‐authored by Baldessari and Chris Stezin, at the Kennedy Center’s Page‐to‐Stage Festival. “Best Men” is the third in a series of plays the men have written together. The first two, “The Thing
about My Brother” and “Fidelity Drumming,” have been featured previously in the Reading Series.

The First Draft Reading Series combines the reading of a play‐in‐ progress with a guided post show audience discussion. The series is committed to developing audiences alongside new plays and supporting local DC artists.

Admission is free. No reservations are required.
