Welcome Letter

Dear Friends,

It is with great honor that I accept the responsibilities of the Presidency of the Arts Club as we approach the conclusion of our first century as Washington’s oldest non-profit arts organization.  We have successfully weathered the storm of a severe recession, thanks to the leadership of my predecessor, June Hajjar, and the devoted participation of the Board of Governors, Committee Chairs, fellow Club members and staff.

While we continue to be one of Washington’s ‘best-kept secrets,’ we are now in a strong position to pursue our shared vision and achieve  important goals.  These include welcoming new members, further improving our infrastructure and services, and continuing to promote engagement in the arts by members and the public.

Over my many years at the Club, I’ve come to realize that we and our guests are one large, diverse  “arts family”.  This is the feeling that I wish to celebrate during the coming year, as we open our home to members, guests, and all who love the arts.  Our historic Arts Club is one of the few remaining pearls in the modern maze of downtown Washington.

Jack Hannula
President, Arts Club of Washington
